Einleitung

Architecture is not a static representation of a system. There are several complexities and risks involved in creating them. One way to mitigate the risk is to evolve the architecture. But, there are risks of evolving as much as there are the risks of not evolving. In this interactive workshop we will explore a set of practices that we can use to mitigate the risks. Then we will dive into discussing some common and popular architectural patterns. Finally, we will take some example applications and discuss how to evolve architecture to meet the needs of those applications.

Programm

What is the program / agenda of the workshop?

*Need to evolve architecture

*Risks of evolving and risks of not evolving; how to cope

*Practices to evolve architecture

*Architectural patterns and their characteristics

*From Monoliths to microservices and a few in between

Kursziel

It is hard to create just about anything in one sitting and that is true especially for architecture. One of the risk of architecture is committing to details too early, but, there is risk in delaying decisions too much as well. In this workshop, we will first look into practices that can help us to incrementally evolve architecture, in a deliberate and intentional way. We will then discuss various architectural patterns, their characteristics, and look into a couple of applications, and arrive at suitable architectures based on an analysis of their characteristics.
